I took this plaque to my friend's grave; I wondered what story she might write if only she had one more day.
As I leaned it up against the stone, Oh, how I wished I could call her on the phone.
Would she ask if I took time to feel the ray of the sun or if I remember it is ok to have fun
Would she tell me to stop stressing over what to wear or all the ways life feels unfair
Would she remind me that fear and doubt will make you feel trapped, would she tell me there isn’t time for that
Would she ask if I hurriedly rushed down the store aisle or if I took a moment to give someone a smile
Would she ask if I felt the kiss of the morning dew and if I remembered to tell someone, I love you
As I sat next to her name on the ground, one final thought I found.
If she could give us one piece of advice, what would it be? Then these very words drifted through me:
My Dear, while you are here, know each day
is another gift you get to see.
So remember to LIVE, and to live, like your FREE!
